June 6, 1942, on her 13th birthday, Anne Frank receives an autograph book that she chooses to utilize as her eponymous diary. Less than a month later her and her family were in hiding from the Nazis. In The Diary, Benzi is tasked with reading excerpts from the diary of his deceased Army officer brother at a memorial ceremony, only to misplace the book.
