The Edge of the Possible

7 November 1940, only four months after it opened for traffic,.the Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapsed. Known affectionately as “Galloping Gertie”, the research into its failure influenced the design of other long span bridges built since. Similarly, the engineering feat of the Sydney Opera House led to the development of a whole new theory of architecture, and recognition for the mind behind the design as told in The Edge of the Possible.
