The swimming competition for the Paralympics opens in Tel Aviv

November 6, 1968 the swimming competition for the 1968 Summer Paralympics opens in Tel Aviv. After Mexico (that year’s Olympic host) cited technical difficulties in hosting the Paralympics, Israel stepped in, marking the first time both games were not held concurrently. A significant number of the host country’s medals would come from the swimming competition, including two gold. In Three Hundredths of a Second we follow the Israeli Paralympic swimming team at the 2000 Sydney games as they continue the tradition.
