The poet Rachel featured on Israeli Currency

July 23, 2017. Following the recommendations of the currency committee, the Bank of Israel issues the last of its “Series C” banknote series in 2017. On the 20 shekel note is featured the poet Rachel, a major influence on the nascent Hebrew language, along with her poem “Kinneret” in microprinting and a vista of her beloved Sea of Galilee’s shoreline. Who was this woman, who in only 40 years achieved such an impact on the Hebrew language and Israeli culture that she appears on Israeli currency? Her short but influential life is examined in Miss Bluwstein, Rachel.
