The Genius Marie Curie Died


    July 4, 1934 Marie Curie died of a plastic anemia believed to have been contracted from her long-term exposure to radiation. At the time of her death, the damaging effects of ionising radiation were not known, and she did not use the safety measures that were later instituted. Although her many decades of exposure to radiation caused chronic illnesses and ultimately her death, she never really acknowledged the health risks of radiation exposure.
