April 11, 1961, the trial of Adolf Eichmann, one of the architects of the Nazi “final solution”, commences. Live television broadcasts allow Israelis to watch the proceedings in real time, and the testimony of the witnesses, many of them Holocaust survivors, led to a deeper understanding of the Holocaust, particularly for younger and native born Israelis.
